God Doesn't Need Us to Be Successful In Our Terms, He Wants Us to Be Surrendered!

Image
God Wants Us to Be Surrendered! In a world that often measures success in material gains, achievements, and recognition, the notion that God doesn't require us to be successful might seem counterintuitive. However, this profound message, inspired by the band's lead vocalist of Tenth Avenue North, challenges us to rethink our priorities and acknowledge that true fulfillment lies in surrendering to a higher purpose. The band's journey from sacrifice to restoration exemplifies the beauty of surrendering to God's will and finding abundant blessings in return. The Sacrificial Journey The story of Tenth Avenue North begins as a sad but purposeful one. The band's lead vocal reflects on the tough choices they had to make - between their family and their career. Many individuals, especially those in demanding professions or ministries, often face the heart-wrenching dilemma of balancing the passion for their work with the needs of their families. For the members of Tenth A...

The Burden of Male Mentorship: Shaping Christ-Like Men

"I have a concern," a voice whispers, burdened with contemplation. "I have thought through it countless times, and it weighs heavily upon me. Yet, I thank God for this burden, as it awakens me to take action." These words, filled with earnestness and a desire for change, encapsulate the yearning for a transformation in the realm of male mentorship. Overwhelmed by the magnitude of this concern, I have chosen to express the willingness to share this burden with others as a means to seek support and understanding. Shedding light on an observation that has troubled me deeply: the stark disparity between the education, mentorship, and preparation received by women compared to men. In our society, we witness a rising tide of educated, empowered, and resilient women, ready to face the challenges of life head-on. Yet, amidst this wave of progress, we find a disheartening reality: a generation of men who seem ill-prepared, lacking the tools needed to navigate life's jo...

The Less-Trodden Path: Embracing the Journey of Purpose and Faith

Image
In a world that often seeks the comfort of conformity, the allure of the less-trodden path beckons us to explore uncharted territories and carve our own unique journey. Robert Frost's iconic poem, "The Road Not Taken," beautifully encapsulates the essence of this inspiring endeavor. The path less traveled may not always be the easiest choice, but it can lead to profound personal growth, incredible discoveries, and a life filled with purpose. Throughout history, trailblazers and visionaries have dared to venture beyond the familiar, transforming society and leaving a lasting legacy. These pioneers were not afraid to deviate from the status quo and embrace uncertainty. Instead of waiting for the perfect conditions, they stepped out in faith and courage, knowing that greatness often lies beyond the boundaries of comfort. Taking the road less traveled imparts invaluable life lessons. It teaches us the art of perseverance, for the journey may be arduous and fraught with challe...

The School of the Spirit

Image
In the School of the Spirit, accuracy is golden, patience is evergreen. Many a time, we are in a hurry to jump when we receive a clue from the Lord. As we grow in learning, we realize that it is important to move past the excitement of hearing, to checking with the Lord and ask - How high do you want me to jump? Oftentimes, the Lord will give express direction when he sees we are set to obey him to the letter.   Let us take a look at 2 Kings 13:18-19   And he said, “Take the arrows,” and he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground with them.” And he struck three times and stopped. Then the man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck down Syria until you had made an end of it, but now you will strike down Syria only three times.”   Had the king asked, how long Prophet? He would have received further guidance to know he needed to do it for as long as possible. As we grow in the...

Wealth in The Calabash (Poetic)

Image
My shoes walked off the closet Never knew they have a mind of their own   I am only human after all Do not put the blame on me   Guy, Are you Rag’n’Bone man? Accepting your wrong brings true reflection   It is always them not me I will be this if not for that   That is all I hear again and again Those words have got to give way   Taking responsibility is maturity Never repeating your mistake is wisdom   Take cues from your surroundings Pay attention to things going on around you   Be mindful of your steps No more blame shifting   I will own up I will continue to try   Resilience will be my backpack The end goal will be my focus   Jesus endured the cross He gave no excuses   I will learn and grow Never again condone my negligence. Jonathan - A King That Never Ruled

Image
As an apparent heir to the throne, Jonathan supported David in all loyalty without recourse to the perceived threat that David will rule over the kingdom instead of him. This trait is at variance to the craze for power and position in contemporary times. He could have corroborated with his father in getting David out of the way, after all he had many things to gain if that was his leaning. Rather he accepted David as the anointed one, his aspiration is therefore subjected to the will of the Father - God. Saul had erred from that relationship. It is highly likely that Jonathan had a solid relationship with the Father as exemplified by his confidence in God in 1 Sam 14: 6. If we share parentage with God as His children, and we indeed see each other as brothers and sisters, then believers should not be found orchestrating the fall of anyone.  Love works no ill.  But is that not a common occurrence today? It is time to repent! Now, back to Jonathan. Once upon a time, wh...

Appropriate Mixture Is Good?

Image
All things work together for our good! I saw a profound explanation of Romans 8 vs 28…. All things work together for good. The writer wrote that many like to eat cake, but have we considered a situation whereby we have to eat the ingredient separately.  You eat flour first, then sugar, followed by the butter and so on. But the combination of the several pieces in the right quantity makes a delicious cake. Sometimes the seemingly odd situation we go through are part of the ingredient required to make our lives better. Not that we desire a ugly situation, but God in His overall wisdom knows the end result and no father would allow his children go through what will consume them.  The grace of God is available to see us through!  Kindly share your thoughts and comments in the session below ๐Ÿ˜˜

Engaged In Retrospection?

Image
Maybe you're like myself that regularly engage in retrospection of how the day, week, month and year has been spent. And you're beginning to feel God hasn't done anything or met your expectations this year 2022. The Lord is interrupting you as He did to His son Pastor E.A. Adeboye some years ago, He is requesting that you take a note and write the answers to the questions following;  “How many times did you travel this year?”. “How many times did you have an accident?”.  “More than 325 days have gone by in this year; how many times did you sleep and wake up? Do you know how many people slept and didn’t wake up?  How many times were you hungry this year?  Are you aware that there are people in the hospital who want to eat but have no appetite?” How much do you remit to God for the Oxygen you breathe in? Lest assume you pay for the Oxygen, do you go through any surgical procedure to exhale Carbon dioxide? No matter how bad things may look, don’t forget His mercies! For...

Someone's Dad

R egardless of my external outlook which is most often misinterpreted, I am an ardent supporter of romance and public display of affection (PDA) between husband and wife, so long it is within reasonable context. Although, my husband has general reservations about it.    The creativity embedded in the pleasantly packaged surprise of encouragement, as well as unique bond and laughter displayed in the video clip you are about to see, at the memorable event integrating the process that precedes the new addition of the bundle of joy to the family is something I will encourage every man, especially those within my circle of influence and friends to adopt in creating a unique story for one's wife as she breathes and push forth the new life.  Congratulations, you are soon to be someone’s Daddy!
