A Journey of Gratitude and Reflection

Image
In the hustle and bustle of life, it's easy to lose sight of the countless blessings that surround us every day. As we begin a new year, perhaps you, like myself, find yourself in the quiet moments of retrospection, wondering if God has truly been present and active in your life in 2023. Let's pause for a moment, and just as the Lord interrupted Pastor E.A. Adeboye some years ago, allow Him to interrupt your thoughts too. Take a pen and paper, and consider these questions: “How many times did you travel in the previous year?” In the mundane rhythm of our days, we often forget the privilege of movement. The journeys we embark on, big or small, are a testament to the possibilities that each day holds. “How many times did you have an accident?” Reflect on the times you were kept safe from harm, the near misses that might have gone unnoticed. Each preserved moment is a testimony of divine protection. “More than 365 days have gone by in the previous year; how many times did you sl...

Endless Grace and Intercession

Image
"God's Saving Grace knows no bounds and welcomes all, but it thrives when a 'Persecuted Stephen' prays for a 'Saul the Persecutor' to find his path to becoming Paul the Apostle. The real question is: Are you interceding or cursing in your moments of pain? And, just how earnestly are you interceding for your persecutor to discover Jesus Christ, the Savior?" Absolutely, it's crucial to recognize the boundless nature of God's Saving Grace, which is accessible to all, regardless of our past actions or beliefs. The transformation of Saul the Persecutor into Paul the Apostle serves as a powerful example of this grace in action. The key here lies in the concept of intercession, symbolized by "Persecuted Stephen." It's a profound reminder that, as individuals, we have the opportunity to be instruments of change and salvation for those who may be seemingly lost in their own persecutions or misdeeds. The question to ask ourselves is whether w...

First Steps On The Journey With Jesus Christ

One of the most transformative events in my life was accepting the invitation from the Lord as stated in Matthew 11:28-29 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Embarking on the path of accepting this invitation involves a series of important steps -  The "ABC of Salvation" A: Acknowledge the Existence of God Recognize the presence and existence of God, our Creator. A: Admit Your Need for God Acknowledge your own limitations and the need for guidance, support, and salvation. B: Believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, understanding His sacrifice on the cross for your redemption and reconciliation with the Father. B: Believe in Jesus Christ as the Way, Truth, and Life Place your faith in Jesus Christ, accepting Him as the source of truth and the way to eternal life. C...

Choosing Your Fire

Image
Choosing Your Fire: Warming Up and Walking Strong         The night of Peter's denial of Jesus remains etched in memory, a night shrouded in bone-chilling coldness (John 18:18). In an attempt to find respite, many gathered around a fire of coals to warm themselves. Among them was Peter, seeking refuge in the comforting glow. However, as he sought warmth, he was twice confronted about his association with Jesus. Simultaneously, in another corner of the hall, Jesus faced interrogation, and a soldier struck him with a contemptuous blow for his words to the High Priest. The palpable tension in the air rendered Peter's denial almost inevitable. Peter's initial denial might be viewed as an instinctive reaction, but repeating it indicated a more contemplative response. In the seasons of life where enduring the chill of adversity proves demanding, where do you seek solace? Ponder whether the company you keep adds to your spiritual radiance or detracts f...

In a world that often measures success in material gains, achievements, and recognition, the notion that God doesn't require us to be successful might seem counterintuitive. However, this profound message, inspired by the band's lead vocalist of Tenth Avenue North, challenges us to rethink our priorities and acknowledge that true fulfillment lies in surrendering to a higher purpose.
